Adhesives for ceramic, granite and large-format tiles
Tile adhesive is the layer that decides how long a finish lasts, and the one most often underestimated. The family is graded by deformation demand — from standard ceramic to large-format porcelain, from wet rooms to façades.
With large-format tiles what matters is full, void-free coverage under the tile. Flex-class products are formulated for high deformability and a long open time for exactly that reason.
On floors, rapid-setting products such as Floor Rapid shorten the programme where an area has to be returned to traffic early.
Points to watch on site
- Back-buttering large-format tiles markedly reduces voids.
- Past the open time the adhesive skins over; the notched bed must then be renewed.
- Low-deformability grades should not be used on façades or in wet rooms.
