Swimming Pools

A pool is the one element of a building under permanent water pressure — and that water is chemically treated. Chlorine and pH swings put the waterproofing under additional stress.

A two-component, flexible, chemically resistant cement-based system is preferred on the pool shell.

The fill test is run before tiling; a leak found after the waterproofing is covered means stripping the finish.

On permanently submerged surfaces the adhesive and grout are also specified from water- and chemical-resistant classes.
