ETICS adhesives, renders and mineral finishes
Thermal insulation is not a product but a sequence of layers: adhesive, board, fixing, reinforced render, primer and finish. When one layer is mismatched to the next, the façade shows it as cracking, blistering or colour variation.
The Greenwise thermal family covers that whole sequence. Fixol-class adhesives and renders absorb the stresses between board and substrate, while mineral and organic finishes set the façade's final texture and water repellency.
Mineral finishes are preferred where moisture load is high, thanks to their vapour permeability; organic finishes lead on colour stability and dirt resistance.
Points to watch on site
- The mesh must sit in the middle of the reinforced render, not near the surface; mesh close to the face does not prevent cracking.
- A finish must be applied without interruption across a façade so that joints do not read.
- Fixing count and type follow the wind-load calculation; there is no standard number.
